Summer 2017 Newsletter

Dear Quail Summit Families,

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your support and partnership.  As I updated you on a previous email, I have been appointed as the Director of Educational Services, serving all schools and students in our Walnut Valley District.  I am so grateful to have been Quail Summit’s principal these past three years, and I will cherish the relationships I have built with students, staff, and parent community.  Our district is in the process of hiring a new principal for Quail Summit, and you should be receiving an update later in June.

Through our district’s WV Bond Measure and other construction funding, Quail Summit will be receiving several projects in the next few years.  This summer, a fence will be put in place to separate the park and our school campus.  The fence will ensure safety for all students and staff during school hours and will keep our campus secure during off hours and the weekends.  A new kindergarten classroom will be built during the spring of 2018 in the kindergarten area.  Our new classroom will accommodate the growing needs of new kindergarten students for the upcoming school years.  New carpeting for the entire school campus is scheduled for the summer of 2018.  Our library media center will be modernized for the needs of 21st learning and skills.  The timeline for the library makeover is yet to be determined.

Our Fall Registration for all new and returning students will be Monday, August 7.  An email with more information and a link to fill out all paperwork electronically will be sent in late June.  The same information will be on our website in late June.   The first day of school is Monday, August 14.  Please know that for new students, you must have completed the enrollment paperwork with the front office to secure a spot at our school.

Office hours during the summer:  8:30 AM- 1:30 PM through June 15.  Office reopens on Tuesday, August 1

WVEF Summer School:  June 12- July 20

Fun Club Summer Camp:  May 29-July 28  6:00 AM- 6:30 PM

Registration for all new and returning students:  Monday, August 7  9:00-11:00 Last Names A-L; 12:00-2:00 M-Z, 6:00-7:30 PM- all names

Back to School Night for Grades K-2:  Thursday, August 10

First Day of School: Monday, August 14  School-wide minimum day.  Dismissal at 11:15 AM

On-going Announcements

        As a reminder, our after school pickup lane is a loading zone.  Please do not park in the pickup lane when kindergarten is dismissing their students at 1:45 PM.  This has caused unnecessary delay and additional congestion for our kindergarten parents.  Thank you for helping us dismiss our students with safety and efficiency.
